Confidence needed for this over 40 makeup junkie~~~~

This time tomorrow I will be boarding a jet airliner for the ever so beautiful, but very earthquake prone state of California.  Can not even begin to express the mix of emotions I am feeling.  Hate, hate, hate leaving my babies for that long.....even though they are teenagers, I still call them my babies and I still hate not seeing them and lovin on them each and every day.  I am somewhat fear full to travel alone, being that far away, knowing not ONE SINGLE solitary soul that I could call if I needed something or got into a jam.

BUT, I DO KNOW why I am going, how it will benefit my family and  how much experience I will be gaining to pursue this over 40 makeup junkies ambition!  I'm somewhat of a dork, so I am sure I will be surrounded by young and upcoming makeup artists that are just way cool and got it going on in every direction, so I hope I don't look like the old broad who has lost her ever loving mind in the midst of them all!

For my friends who are prayerful, please lift me up in prayer that God protects me and encamps His Angels around me on my journey, and that He keep my family in perfect peace until I come home.  I'm excited for what lies ahead and excited and scared to see what I am truly made of ..........Muah to you all, and as ALWAYS, thanks for your support!!

HMMM, DIOR OR LOREAL??? AN OVER 40 MAKEUP JUNKIE REVIEW!!

SOOOOO, I have been preoccupied and haven't been able to devote time to my precious makeup blog...and for that I am very sorry!  BUT, I do have a GREAT review/comparison that I think your gonna just LOVE and appreciate!!
I have been trying a couple of Dior's mascara's as I am searching for something other than my "Go To" wonderful, but sometimes undelivering Definicils by Lancome.  I am officially cheating on Lancome......don't tell!  So I went to the Dior counter and purchased the ever so popular DiorShow Black Out Mascara.......can I say NOT IMPRESSED!!!!  Ended up taking it back actually, it did not do one thing better than my Definicils.  I want lengthening mascara and this did not deliver and for the cost of $24.00 it should have done wonders!  As I was returning at the counter one of the Dior reps approached me to give me a heads up on the Dior Show Extase Mascara........LOVE , LOVE THIS MASCARA!!!!!!!  It does what it says it will do which is lengthen, volumize and really make these over 40 lashes look amazing!  The wand is a  dual-fiber tiered brush which looks a little different but definitely performs very well!!  The price of this mascara is a whopping $28.00....I'm an idiot I know!

SO THEN!! I have been reading all about this L'Oreal Lash Out Lengthening & Separating Mascara in magazine after magazine after magazine so I picked one up at Kroger while grocery shopping.  WOO-HOO BEAUTIES......this mascara ROCKS!!!!!  I purchased the waterproof formula in black and it TOTALLY DELIVERS in the lengthening department!!!  AND IT WAS ONLY $6.00!!!!   YES, I said SIX BUCKS!!!!!  Oh, oh, oh I am a happy, happy girl!  So if you are on the mad hunt for a new and improved lengthening mascara......
THIS ONE IS IT!!

Over 40 Makeup Junkie "RoC" discount notification!!!

Hey ladies, first of all, check out this month's People magazine..It's titled "The World's Most Beautiful Women"!  It's got some GREAT articles listed inside that are very "Age" inspiring!!!  Also, the great product RoC Retinol Correxion, which aides in wrinkle demolition, will be 25% off at all Walgreens stores from 4/24 ~ 4/30....this would be a great time to try this product!!!  I actually just found over the weekend a full tube of the Deep Wrinkle night cream at the bottom of a bag that I had stashed in my bathroom closet!!!  Woo-Hoo, LOVE when that happens!!!  So I am using this at night around my crow's feet.
They have also launched a "Sensitive Skin" night cream for those who have a hard time using Retinol products, which is proven to work with no irritation.  These products have shown that 95% of women had improvement in fine lines and even deep wrinkles after 4 weeks of use!!!  Now that is saying A LOT!!!  So take advantage of this 25% off opportunity!!!!

Over 40 Makeup Junkie URBAN DECAY REVIEW!

SO, I was turned on to these little fat beauties by a free lancer the other day as I ran into her at Macy's after we had both unknowingly been at Sephora!  These Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Shadow Pencils($20.00) are THE BOMB!!
I LURVES THEM A LOT!
These fat little gems are crease-proof and waterproof and can be used as eyeshadow or liner!!!  You gotta be quick though, they are blend able if you get to it quickly!  I purchased the 24/7 Shadow Blending Brush that Urban Decay recommends for this product($16.00)which aids in the quick blending process!  I purchased these in "Sin"(GREAT inner eye or base color) and "Delinquent"(beautiful plum) and will definitely be buying more.....you gotta try these!!!! They are so much easier than the standard eye shadow, bigger application area is great and I love the colors!  A couple of them I played around with at Sephora had some great sparkle flakes in them which were just so pretty, but I started safe to see if I liked them,..... and I sooooo do!!!  These should go into the "Makeup for Dummies" book (if there was one) as one of the easiest shadows to apply!!!

So a HUGE THUMBS UP for the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Shadow Pencil!!!!
Woo-Hoo!!!

BUSHAPALOOZA or BRAZILIAN? HMMM?

Don't ya just love that word....."Bushapalooza"!    Have the faintest idea of what it is???  It's the great down under, the landing strip....whatever you prefer to call it.....would you ever think of stripping it clean??  Well the Brazilian wax is ever so popular these days for many a reason, non of which I can truly re-late or fully understand!  God gave us this lovely patch for a reason and I plan on sticking with the program!!  Whether you shave it, trim it up, wax it off.....bottom line is, it's a pain to keep up with but that's our cross to bare!

Now for the summer I prefer, since I am in a bikini a lot, to get a good waxing.....and if you find the right person that really knows what she is doing and you trust her, it's pretty much
 STILL GONNA HURT LIKE
 H* E* DOUBLE L!!!!!
Here are some little tidbits to help in the process!!
~ Be sure to make your appointment no where near right before, during or right after your menstrual cycle, more blood flow and hormonal shifts make EVERYTHING more uncomfortable!
~ Be sure that your waxing phenom is a licensed phenom, she should have the ability to judge hair and skin types and to see which way the hair is growing as to know which way she will be ripping it out!  OUCH!
~ Be sure to take a Motrin or Advil about a 1/2 hour before your appointment and avoid kicking back a cocktail to help calm those nerves, alcohol can actually make the pain worse!
~And RELAX, what does not kill you will make you stronger!!!!

Now go get that landing pad stripped down, cleaned up and looking fine!  You never know, you may LOVE IT!!!! O.k. well probably not, but at least give it a whirl!!

Would you?:

Would you date/marry a man who waxed area's of his body
?? um...depends on WHERE!

Would you let your underarm landscaping go uncut???  um...NO!

FOR THE LOVE OF SALSA!!

So, I absolutely adore mexican cuisine, which means I have a true and deep seeded love of salsa...can I hear areeba-areeba(invision the rolling of the "r" there!).  So I wanted to share with you a recipe that my dear bff so unselfishly shared with little ole me......it's to die for good!!!

We shall call it Over 40 style salsa!!!
INGREDIENTS:
~ 1 can (28 oz.) Whole Tomatoes With Juice
~ 2 cans (10 0z) Rotel, I use 1 can of original and one can of the lime and cilantro mix!!
~ 1/4 cup Chopped Onions ( I use Red Onions and I add a lot more!)
~ 1 Clove Minced Garlic ( I again use about 3!)
~ 1 - 2 tsp. of Diced Jalepenos!!  ( I use Mt. Olive Diced Jalepenos in the jar!)
~ 1/4 tsp of Sugar
~ 1/4 tsp. of Salt
~ 1/4 tsp of Ground Cumin
~ 1/2 cup of Cilantro (or more to taste)
~ 1/2  Whole Lime Juice (Fresh is best!)

Now Do This:
Combine whole tomatoes, Rotel, onion, jalapeno, garlic, sugar, salt, cumin, lime juice and cilantro in a blender or food processor.  Pulse until you get to the desired consistency that you like!  Let this chill for about an hour, this gives all the flavors time to mesh!!!  As always, tweak this recipe to your liking and ENJOY!!!

TESTING A NEW PRODUCT!!

Alrighty ladies, I stopped by the Lancome counter today and chatted with my favorite Lancome diva Miss  Rachel.  I asked her about the new Lancomes Renergie Lift Volumetry Neck Cream.   I read about this product from a fabulous ladies website for us over 40 beauties and was VERY interested!!  She gave me a great sample so I am gonna be your guinea pig and try it out, I will hopefully fall madly, over the moon in love with it.....cause Lord knows I need a little lift in the ole neck area!!!

Curse those 0ver 40 dark under eye circles!!

O.k. so I'm back on track here with my over 40 makeup tips, sorry, been sorta outta sorts here lately?  Any who, I am starting to battle with those gorgeous, ever so flattering dark under eye circles and I'm not liking them one bit!!!  I know I have posted a blog pertaining to why we get them and blah, blah, blah, but I want to be able to do battle and conquer those stinking unattractive demons!

So as you know that as we age, the skin under our eyes becomes thinner, tones are uneven and those beautiful fine lines form.  For some of us this is all due to heredity and you are dealing with these at a much younger age....sorry!  The idea is to lighten or brighten that area as best you can with the best product that works best for your skin and skin tones.

First you want to discover what color your under eye circles gravitate to, such as, are they more on the blueish/purple side or are they more of a yellow/green tone? Most of us will fall under the blueish/purple side, and in the color wheel you want to combat those shades with their opposites as to neutralize those shadows.  So the blueish/purple will be best fought with a yellow or peachy toned concealer.

Now, to apply your concealer there are so many different ways to approach this......You can apply under your foundation, with a concealer brush, under the eye area and making sure to get the inner eye area where some shadows are usually darker.  After applying, blend with your ring finger as to not have any distinct lines, then "set" with a very light dusting of your face powder, but not too much, you don't want it to look too cakey.
You can also apply your concealer over your foundation.  Put a very light coat of foundation as you usually would, but apply your light concealer after, using the same method as above.  I have found a Lancome product that I use that works really well and it's not thick like a lot of concealers.  It's the Teint Miracle highlighter pen.  It has a push button applicator brush and I apply it over my foundation and then blend with my ring finger.

Another concealer I play around with is by the great Laura Mercier, it is called
"Secret Camouflage" in SC-3(voted best concealer by Allure Magazine in 2009 & 2010!).  It has a light and a dark panel of concealer and she recommends blending the two to get the best color....I'm not that talented.. YET!  So I use the lightest shade and apply it from my bottom lash line to outer circle area, it's a pretty big area, but I want to get it ALL!!  I blend it and "set" it with face powder.  I purchased the Laura Mercier at Sephora, or you can order online.

An over 40 makeup junkie bucket list!

O.k., so I was reading a cute, but quite disturbing little paper that my 13 year old daughter presented to me.  It was her bucket list, a list of things that she wants to do before the good Lord calls her home.....seriously, she's 13 for goodness sake, it kinda creeped me out!!!  What the heck does she need a bucket list for at 13???? But it got my juices flowing and my creativity hat was once again rolling with my ideas.  So here it goes.......

*I want to go to The Kentucky Derby!  But not just go, I REALLY want to go....big hat, non alcoholic Mint Julep, seats with the hob nobbers....the whole kit and caboodle baby!!!
* I want to swim with the dolphins, but in the wild and not in some stinky fish smelling filled with dolphin urine and poo tank!
*I want to be in a boat, a rather large boat, and follow along side a herd, pod, swarm, gaggle of humongous whales.....oh the JOY!
* I want to hug an elephant, for a loooong time
*I want to own a bone-a-fied Budweiser Clydesdale horse
*I want to travel to Italy, eat their cuisine and learn their language of love
*I want to be on "Dancing with the Stars"
*I want to sing and dance on Broadway in the musical "South Pacific" or "Grease"
*I want to have the legs of Cameron Diez (o.k. that one is a pipe dream, not a bucket list contender)
*I want to get married, re-married whatever, on the beach in a hot little white beachy number while bare foot, with my children by my side
*I want to know who killed Jonbenet Ramsey.....no seriously, I do!
* And last but not least, I want to be the most famous make-up artist in the WORLD!!!
O.k., that's a little much....

So, some of these things are mere fantasy's and will never come to pass, but some are true blue want to do's before I am 6 ft. under wishes.
Keep checking back, this post is a clue to my NEXT OVER 40 MAKEUP JUNKIE GIVE-A-WAY!!!!!  Oh, now your thinking!

Who AM I?

O.k., so I was thinking a lot over the weekend about my past, who I was, who I am now...and I wanted to share with you all a little bit of what made me.......well, me!

~I was born in Ohio(blah, blah, blah), moved to Oklahoma and lived on a 500 acre cattle ranch which my mother and father took care of.  My playmates as I remember were hairy cattle, horses, donkey's and coon dogs! My dad fixed up a tire "Swing" on a contraption called a walker, this looked like a big marry-go-round..sorta....and it had probably 4-6 long extension for which to hook a horse up to and when you were done riding, or when they needed a little 7th inning stretch, my father would hook them up, turn the walker on and leave them to cool down as they walked in a never ending circle.  Which was primarily what he did with me when I would go out to the barn with him, hook me up and leave me ....well not REALLY, but you get my drift!
~My brother and I would play "King of the Mountain" on huge piles of gravels, we would go check the fences on our trusty steeds, or in my case a little retired circus donkey named Jackie, who was superb in the art of unlatching his stall door, and playing dead in the middle of the arena if kicked in just that right sweet spot....no seriously he did that....more than once if I recall.  I also recall a very traumatic day in my life when my family loaded up and headed to the local rodeo where I entered the arena to run what is called "barrel racing", you and your mount take off as fast as you can and maneuver around 3 barrels placed like a triangle, and see how quickly you can finish.  Well, seems as though my donkeys oats were not setting well on his belly, and have you ever heard of the "walking farts", Jackie had the slow "running farts", EVERY SINGLE STEP he would take he would fill the air with magical toons and the crowd just about fell off their seats laughing at the cute little girl on her flatulent ass!!!  Sorry, I do not cuss, and that is not actually a cuss word because it is describing the biblical name of this horrendous animal!!! Needless to say, I cried, and cried for my daddy to make him stop, which made it all the funnier I guess.......funny how some things never leave your memory!  Another story with me and Jackie was that we all were going out checking cattle and fences, we had a certain amount of bulls that had to be accounted for and they were all there except for one, the way my moms tell the story is this...they couldn't find me and Jackie.....or the bull, and all of the sudden they heard me just a yelling, and yelling saying......here I come daddy, I got him, I got him.....and they looked and over this hill I came on little ole Jackie, my little legs not even long enough to fit into the stirrups, just a whooping ole Jackie to keep him running after this HUMONGOUS Bull who at any moment could have turned around and charged us and demolished us both.  My mom said they froze in absolute panic because they could only imagine what was going to happen, but I did it, I brought the bull back to the herd all my lonesome!!!  sniff, sniff.......

So that's my best memories, all before the age of 5!   Which explains my love of animals I suppose, I adore horses, showed them most of my life until the age of 18 and mom stopped paying for it!!  Ha Ha.......  But I feel at my best, most true to myself, relaxed and at peace when I am around them, the smell of their muzzle just floods my memory with good and joyful remembrances of the past......ever had that? Oh to be able to go back.........
So there you have just a short snippet of my childhood way back yonder, more ramblings to come later.......you can't wait can you??!!!  ha ha
My cute as life "poppy", she was a miniature donkey that was as rotten as the day was long!!
This was 3 years ago, she was a BALL!!
