Say thanks, and watch that makeup!

Happy Memorial Day everyone!!  As you go through your day of visiting friends, cooking out, taking a dive in the ole swimming pool......please take a moment and remember those who have gone before you either in the line of service or a loved one who has passed.  Always be so very thankful for those who lost their lives, protecting yours.

So!!!  It's gonna be a HOT one today here in Ohio, add in that amazingly annoying humidity, and the big question is, do you even bother wearing makeup today????  Well I for one am going to apply my airbrush makeup and see how it withstands the elements, it is silicone based and is waterproof and sweat proof!!!  I despise wearing foundation in the summer, I just can not stand that feeling when your foundation starts getting sticky and cakey and feels like it's running down your face!  But until I allow the summer sun to gently kiss my face (with SUNSCREEN of course!) and can actually go without foundation and not scare everyone half to death, I am going to look for a good tinted moisturizer to even out my skin tone and not be as heavy as a liquid foundation.  So if your blessed with even toned blemish free skin, and can go without foundation.....then by all means, be free, walk on the wild side, be bold and BEAUTIFUL and go naked!!!! On your face that is!!

To keep your eyes in tact....I recommend the "Makeup Forever" Aqua Eyes line.....you will be in WATERPROOF LOVE!!!!

HAVE A GREAT AND FUN FILLED DAY BEAUTIES!!!!  MUAH!!

My new makeup junkie Airbrush System hauler!!!

Hello everyone!  Well I found the most nifty little thing at Michaels and I wanted to share it with you....that is if you have a care in the world about hauling around your Temptu Airbrush System!!!  So I found a scrapbook organizer....on wheels even, to tote my Temptu  S-One Compressor and SP-35 gun!!!  How dandy, and somewhat inexpensive ($42.00)at THAT!!!  Beats the heck out of going and buying a MAC Zuka bag($289.00).... let me tell ya!!!!  It totally holds all my airbrush equipment and accessories with the greatest of ease, and it has the great lift up handle for easy rolling!!  So I just wanted to share with you my great new find, I was excited that I beat the traditional makeup system and ended up being somewhat "thrify".......my husband will be SO PROUD!!!!!  Woo-Hoo!!!!

With my airbrush system I was able to experiment on my most beautiful friend, who sat ever so quietly, and patiently allowed me to blow makeup all over her face out of this crazy looking contraption!!!!  And not to mention, allowing me to post a before picture....which she just turned 40 and looks like she's 14......hate her.

But as you can see, airbrushing has beautiful results, very  balanced and seamless ....freckles and all!!!!  Thanks Blondie, you are a  true beauty!!!  MUAH!

Good morning everyone!  I wanted to share with you an email I received last evening from the organization called BEAUTY BUS!!  They were featured on "Secret Millionaire" a couple of months ago and their organization has just exploded with people like myself who contacted them wanting to help and start a BEAUTY BUS chapter in their home town area.  If you are in the L.A. area and can volunteer to help this incredible group of big hearted and unselfish men and women bring a smile and just a little bit of normalcy to some well deserving patients, please give them a call or contact them via email which I have listed below!!!  Or if you are interested in starting a chapter in your area, they are working on getting all the needed information together to enable people to get on the "BEAUTY BUS"!!!!  MUAH!!!

Hi Rainee.  Thank you for getting aboard the Beauty Bus!  We were honored to be featured on ABC's Secret Millionaire and are thankful to Ali Brown for believing in our mission of bringing beauty home to patients and caregivers.   Apologies for our delay in responding.  We have been overwhelmed by the response.  We are so sorry we missed your trip to California!
We are very excited about your interest in helping Beauty Bus reach more clients and caregivers in need across the country and the world!
We need you in LA!  We are currently working with a group of business students at UCLA to create a thoughtful national expansion plan.  Beauty Bus is a very young non-profit with limited resources, and we are still learning and perfecting our model.
We would love to take your contact information and keep you updated on our national expansion plans for Beauty Bus.  We are very excited to have you as part national team and we appreciate your patience.
In the meantime, please consider hosting a Beauty Bus event in your area:  a product drive or small fundraiser, like a cut-a-thon or tips for a day at a local salon.  We can help you with materials and organization.
We would also be honored if you could feature Beauty Bus on your blog - we could use the exposure and would love to partner!
Please be sure to sign up for our newsletter (www.beautybus.org - left-hand column), and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
Have a beautiful day!

Review results and ANOTHER PRODUCT TRIAL!!

HEY!  Well, I finished up my review of the Lancome "Renergie Lift Volumetry Neck Cream"
that I posted about on April 15th.  And I have to say that the only real difference that I could tell was not in wrinkle reduction but in the overall appearance of my neck.  I do not really have wrinkles to speak of on my neck so I can not judge this product too harshly for that, I have more lines from side to side.  The lines did not change in appearance, but the feel of my skin took on a really nice softness, I had a few little bumps that you couldn't see but I could feel, and they have went away.  So if I had more product to use over an extended period of time, I would probably see more of a prominent difference in my neck lines.

AND NOW!!!  I have a great new product that Lancome has launched called "Bright Expert" Dark spot corrector and radiance activator.  It stimulates the skins natural clarity by erasing visible signs of hyperpigmentation and re-polishing the skin's surface.  You use this over the entire face both a.m. & p.m. before applying your moisturizer.  I am SUPER EXCITED about trying this product, I have a really big "brown" type spot on my right cheek that bugs the ever loving daylights out of me and I pray that this Lancome product helps this over 40 makeup junkie's skin!!!  Wish me luck!!!

How to apply eyeliner to your waterline...

Below is a short but sweet demonstration requested by Miss Kim,  on how I apply my eyeliner to the waterline of my eye.  YOU CAN DO IT!!!

REMEMBER:  Use a soft pencil, no sharp edges!

SOOO, I could NOT get a good tutorial on the winged eyeliner due to the fact that I am over 40 and can not see a daggon thing unless I am face to face with my mirror, which is not possible when you are video taping!! So I drew out a sketched tutorial on an easy way to start, so practice, it is kind of tricky at first but keep on trying and you will master the  winged eye look!!!

line up the corner of your top eye with the end of your eyebrow with a pencil.

Then take your eyeliner of choice and make a straight line from the corner of the top lid to your desired wing length aiming for the end of your eyebrow.

And with the greatest of ease, just connect the corner of your line to the top of your lash line to the desired place, (this one is not so dramatic)

And of course color it in with your liner

If you want more of a dramatic look, add to your winged area by taking your line farther over to your lash line...

And fill in!!!!!!

Well, there you have it.....and as always thanks for taking the time to take a look!!!  Muah!!!!

Makeup Junkie SCORED!!!

Afternoon ya'll!  Well, I went to Macy's today and purchased some beautiful things from the MAC and Dior counters!!!  First off, I got my "Gift with purchase" from Lancome......can you say "Loaded!".  I just adore these gifts with purchase incentives!!!!

I then waltzed over to the Dior counter and purchased a BEAUTIFUL "5 Couleurs Lift" ensemble, and in this little gem is an eye shadow base, 3 shadows and an eyeliner....all in ONE little compact!!!  LOVE IT!!!

And I had to try the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer, it's lovely in a soft shade of baby pink, but whats cool is I wore it totally alone and LOVE IT to death, had a slight plumping tingly feeling ( and you know what I say about that good tinglin after 40!) but it's not like the Cayenne pepper type effect of some plumper's.

So all in all, I got some goodies to play with.....keeps me amused!

I had a request to do a tutorial on applying eyeliner to the waterline of your eye, so keep checking back to see my version!
Here are a couple of pics of the cute little eye ensemble I put together for my daughter, she LOVED IT....not my speed, but then again I'm not 13!!!

Over 40 makeup junkie is BAAAACK!

Hey ladies!!!!  Long time no blog!  he he
Well, as you know my trip to the beautiful California is sadly over, didn't get to see not one single solitary grain of sand on the beaches, nor one single solitary celebrity!!! Can you believe that????  NOT ONE!!  Geez!!!  But I did make some great friendships while at school.......these chicks were hilarious!!  If for nothing else, I'm glad I met them ALL!!  Now as for the school......hmm hmm....let's just say.....it coulda been better.  Feeling kinda cheated I guess you would say, especially for the money that was laid down for the whole kit and kaboodle......would have liked to walk away feeling like I could take on the world of beauty with a toothpick, but instead feel as though I have oodles and oodles to learn, which you learn every day, but for the cost.....I wanna be "The Donald" of makeup!!!!  But being away for 9 days, not having to cook, do laundry, make my bed, clean the dishes......TOTALLY AND UTTERLY ROCKED!!!!!!!!
I missed my family like crazy, but it was nice to be a big girl and do some things on my own and make my own way around and if I wanted,  just lay in my big comfy bed in my room and eat my breakfast, or dinner(that I did not prepare) while propped up by some big huge down pillows........go to bed as early......or as late as I pleased and just be me!!!

And my amazing husband and kids sent these to me on my second day in Cali, which totally made my heart go pitter patter, and made me feel like they were there with me.....
I now have the challenge of designing my logo, making out of the ordinary business cards, purchasing photo's for my ever so important portfolio, net working myself, making contacts and trying like heck to make a great name for myself and get going with this dream!!!

Anatomy of make-up schooling.......part tres!

So, it's Saturday evening, just returned from a very fun "beauty" shoot! Really got to be creative today with color and hair and props.....loved that! Super excited to view my proof sheets and pick some great photos for my portfolio! Sad that my adventure will soon be coming to an end here in beautiful Califor-ni-a......I can totally see why people pack up and move to this place, just walking down the streets here in Burbank, you are constantly bombarded with the fragrance of so many different flowers, so many different vibrant colors.....it's just something to see. But I miss my family and must get back to the reality that I call my life....in wonderful Ohio. That just sounds so boring!!!! Tomorrow will be our last day and we are doing a "fashion" shoot which will really bring out my ability to use color and make it work for the camera......wish me luck!!!! Muah!!!

Anatomy of make-up schooling....part deuce!

O.k., so I got my beauty sleep and feel most refreshed and my feet have slimmed back down to their normal size this morning! Woo-Hoo!!! So AGAIN, as I sit here in this quant little hotel room, enjoying my most wonderful cup of java kicked back in my bed....which by the way ROCKS, down comforter and all, I will continue telling you about my venture!

So, these two cutie pies introduced themselves to me outside the Award School and we chit-chatted for a bit while waiting for the school to open. I was so stinking nervous, I'm out of my element here and I don't want to screw this up ya know? A very "put together" lady came to the door and let us in, and I saw makeup chairs lined up on each side wall, makeup lights, mirrors, and the most beautiful makeup cases in the world!!!! Oh sweet Jesus, I wanted to dig into those, but withheld my child like Christmas morning enthusiasms and sat my butt down in a chair. The first part of the day consisted of endless note taking on the in's and out's of "the Biz", what to wear, how much to charge, insurance, taxes, and all the different types of work just waiting to be had out there!

We then broke for lunch and all us girlies headed out and hoofed it down the street to "Porto's", great place for lunch!!!! Sooooo, when we returned we FINALLY got to open those ever so sweet makeup cases, we were all like kids in a candy store! They were stocked with all kinds of media friendly makeup, oh my Lord and beautiful makeup brushes, palettes and all Im gonna need to take over the world!!!!

Also sitting there were full airbrush equipment...can you say "airbrush love"....I finally have a gun that Im not afraid to operate! But how the heck and I gonna get this stuff home????? Anyway, we played around and familiarized ourselves with our kits and the airbrush systems then moved onto "eyebrows". We learned the different styles of eyebrows from way back in the 1920's to what's current now....we then experimented on each other and "fixed" our eyebrow problems! FUN!

Yesterday we were full forced into using our airbrush equipment, stenciling patterns on our bodies, airbrush tanning, tattoo cover up, and contouring!! Such an informative and hands on day!!!!! LOVED IT! Today will be a doozie!!! We are going to be in charge of our own models, from dress, to makeup, to picking the correct background for photography. We will then proof our photo's on Friday and pick the best and most wonderful ones to start my portfolio!!!! OMG......nerves DON'T BE THE DEATH OF ME!!!! Send your love and support my way today girls.....I'm so gonna need it! More to come tonight, that is of course if I'm not exhausted by then.......... MUAH!!!!

Over 40 makeup junkie: Anatomy of make-up schooling!

Good evening beauties.....as I sit here in my quant little hotel room here in Burbank, Ca.....I have just one thing to say......MY DAGGON FEET ARE KILLING ME!!!!!!

Yesterday was my first day of big girl make-up school, it's located on a "vintage inspired" street, antiques on every corner....vintage clothing stores, adorable coffee shop with exquisite Cafe Mochas and all the charm this Ohio girl can handle! The beauty of these mountains are just breath taking, it's a bummer that I can't go and site see and experience the lay of this most impressive land. BUT, maybe another trip!

I am utterly proud of myself for a couple of things.....first is that I flew to Dallas, had a lay over, found my connecting flight, got off the plane in Burbank, called for a shuttle, fetched my own bags, checked in to the hotel, hailed a cab...(LOVE saying that!) traveled to a local mall, ate at P.F. Changs....by myself, hailed ANOTHER CAB and ended up back at the hotel safely!!!! Whew, that was quite the busy day and did YOU know.........your supposed to tip cab drivers!????? Lol, I did NOT know that little gem

So Monday came, time for school .......since June of 1987!! OMG! Arrived really early.....to be the responsible person that I am.....and there was not a soul to be found, streets were quiet as a mouse, had NO CLUE what to do or where to go so I just starting "strolling" which is the perfect word to explain this area. Found the cutest little coffee shop and enjoyed a GREAT cafe mocha while I sat outside and COMPLETELY enjoyed and soaked up that California sun!!! Funny thing though, it did not turn me into a California Beauty".....really disappointing!!! Lol

So, walked back down to the school building and along came a couple of cute, and very sweet young ladies.....BOTH FROM ALASKA!!!!!

MORE TO COME TOMORROW.......give me a break! I'm over 40 and TIRED!!!!! Muah!
