Update....Update....Update on the "Pillow Disease"!!!!

I am SO excited girls!!!  A couple of posts' ago I went on a rant about waking up every morning with those horrible, disfiguring facial wrinkles due to sleeping on my side and belly.  I took some advice and ordered a wonderful satin pillowcase from A touch of Satin, washed it and used it for the first time last night.

NO WRINKLES~NO WRINKLES~NO WRINKLES~NO WRINKLES~NO WRINKLES!!!!!!!!
DID I SAY NO WRINKLES??
Seriously, I did not have one line on my face this morning, GLORY!!!!!  And you know me, I would never, ever promote something unless I truly believed in it or tried it myself, and this ladies is a God send.  There are apparently so many other wonderful benefits of the great satin pillowcase?
~Medical experts recommend using satin pillowcases for patients being treated for cancer and Hepatitis C for they sometimes will suffer from Alopecia(hair loss).  Sleeping on cotton can damage hair cuticles and when you destroy the cuticle, you speed the downfall of your hair's health! Satin pillowcases prevent the cuticles from heating up because the head flow's over the pillowcase!
~As we age we lose the elasticity in our skin and pressing your face on a cotton pillowcase all night can cause you to wake up with creases and wrinkles in your skin.  Eventually the creases may become permanent.  A cotton pillowcase draws moisture from your hair and skin while you sleep but a satin pillowcase allows your face to move and flow across the pillow so there is no tension or stress on the skin.
~AVOID THE BED HEAD! You can avoid waking up with that wonderful bed head look by sleeping on a satin pillowcase, the fabric allows your hair to sliiiiiide gently across it, unlike the cotton pillowcase that causes friction and disrupts the hair cuticle.

You can go to www.atouchofsatin.com and choose from a whole slew of solid colors to match any decor you may have in the boudoir, and they have a few prints as well!  They offer travel accessories, eye pillows and all sorts of great ideas!!

Makeup Junkie and the pillow wrinkles! UGH!

So, I've been totally perplexed as I awake every morning only to find a face full of ugly, unwanted and downright horrible deep seated lines in my face?  What the heck, I have to go thru my morning and sometimes into the mid morning hours with these huge God awful lines in my face.....not too embarrassing!  This has been happening more and more over the last, lets say 8 months or so? I thought it was a quick fix and I would only need to get  a better fitting pillow case so as not to have too many loose wrinkles in the material, because it was ALL the pillow cases fault.....then I read an article about training yourself to sleep on your back and not your side or stomach, as to avoid pillow creases and deepening your natural lines and wrinkles!!!!  Seriously....this is for real???  Of all the things after 40 that I have to worry with, now I have to deal with my PILLOW CASE and the reality that these things, these lines may become permanently etched in the surface of my skin????  Unfortunately, as we age and get older (ouch!) our skin loses its elasticity, so it is harder for it to bounce back as it did when we were younger...AND, by the way, I have now developed 3 NEW lines of wrinkles just to the left of my mouth that mimic my cheeks being all squished up....and they aren't disappearing......for the love of Pete!  (Who is Pete anyway?)

Here are some tips on how to avoid this dreaded new pillow disease!
~Sleep on your back, or change your sleeping position frequently
~Avoid hard cotton pillows AND pillowcases
~Use satin pillow cases(A Touch of Satin) ..ordered mine today!
Sleep wrinkles are much easier to prevent then they are to repair!
~Treat or correct those lines that seem to be permanent with skin care products that contain peptides, which promote the formation of collagen.  Collagen will form under the wrinkles and push up the skin from below!

Contouring and Highlighting your purdy face!

SCULPTING YOUR FACE
Many women with a full face, crooked nose, double chin (ouch!), would of course adore the opportunity to make all these things magically disappear!!  We of course are not magicians by trade, but we can effectively use sculpting methods to bring forth  the illusion of a slimmer face, straighter nose and a not so noticeable double chin!! Below I will give you tips on how to apply and what to use, no matter which products you choose to use, you should follow the same basic sculpting method.  You will need to choose three shades of foundation or powder in three different depth levels....
The picture/diagram above gives you a guideline on how to apply Highlight and Contour Colors.
CONTOUR
Think of contouring this way......if we want our bodies to appear slimmer, what do we do?  We wear dark colors, usually black.  So, if you want to slenderize parts of your facial structure, you need to darken those areas ever so slightly......your temples, hairline, sides of the nose, under the cheekbone and chin line. ( I actually use either eyeshadow or blush colors for my highlighting techniques)
HIGHLIGHTING
If dark slenderizes, then we need to use a lighter shade to bring forth; that which you highlight will be what the eye will focus on first......your forehead, top of the cheekbones, the tip of your chin, cupids bow and the bridge of your nose.

~First apply your foundation color all over the face
~Then apply your second highlight product to the high points listed above
~Now contour with the darkest shade in the outer points listed above

If you have ivory or beige skin, you will probably want to contour more than highlight and if you have bronze or ebony skin, you will need to highlight your skin more than contour!  Be sure to have a soft hand and blend, blend, blend as to not leave noticeable color differences on the skin.

REMEMBER: when you see a picture in a magazine, or an edited photo of someone that is just flawless........10 times out of 10......it's all an illusion done with make-up, lighting and GREAT EDITING SOFTWARE!!!!  Do not let your heart be troubled thinking that you will never match up to someone shown in that manner, it's not the true them.  No one is THAT perfect ladies, beautiful, without a doubt yes.......perfect.......NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!!

Makeup Junkie's been thinking....Oh Lord help us all

O.k., so I've been thinking...........I want my own studio, boutique, makeup bar extravaganza....whatever you call on your side of the tracks!!!!!  I want a swanky, classy, relaxed, a bit romancy kinda "spot" to enable clients to come and allow me to do make-overs, makeup lessons, buy products, shoot the breeze, listen to Harry Connick Jr. and Sinatra, drink some java and just be girls.....cause that's what we do!!!

I don't know if it will ever come to pass, but I can't loose that vision...it just keeps coming!  And if WE could, my bff and I....who is one cute little photographer, want to open a boudoir type photography studio to wear women would come in, I treat them to full on make-up, we have a hairstylist ready and  different rooms are set up for different scenes/moods and backgrounds, she would shoot the pictures and magic would be made!!!  Nothing tasteless, trashy or racy mind you, just good, clean, classy, sexy pictures, because I truly believe that EVERY women, no matter their shape or size should experience that feeling of seeing themselves in that light, to be made to feel special and beautiful.......its an amazing thing!

So who know's what my future may bring, I will keep dreaming big and wait to see what the Lord has in store for muah......in the meen(?) time, I will keep on keeping on!!!
