Update....Update....Update on the "Pillow Disease"!!!!

I am SO excited girls!!!  A couple of posts' ago I went on a rant about waking up every morning with those horrible, disfiguring facial wrinkles due to sleeping on my side and belly.  I took some advice and ordered a wonderful satin pillowcase from A touch of Satin, washed it and used it for the first time last night.

NO WRINKLES~NO WRINKLES~NO WRINKLES~NO WRINKLES~NO WRINKLES!!!!!!!!
DID I SAY NO WRINKLES??
Seriously, I did not have one line on my face this morning, GLORY!!!!!  And you know me, I would never, ever promote something unless I truly believed in it or tried it myself, and this ladies is a God send.  There are apparently so many other wonderful benefits of the great satin pillowcase?
~Medical experts recommend using satin pillowcases for patients being treated for cancer and Hepatitis C for they sometimes will suffer from Alopecia(hair loss).  Sleeping on cotton can damage hair cuticles and when you destroy the cuticle, you speed the downfall of your hair's health! Satin pillowcases prevent the cuticles from heating up because the head flow's over the pillowcase!
~As we age we lose the elasticity in our skin and pressing your face on a cotton pillowcase all night can cause you to wake up with creases and wrinkles in your skin.  Eventually the creases may become permanent.  A cotton pillowcase draws moisture from your hair and skin while you sleep but a satin pillowcase allows your face to move and flow across the pillow so there is no tension or stress on the skin.
~AVOID THE BED HEAD! You can avoid waking up with that wonderful bed head look by sleeping on a satin pillowcase, the fabric allows your hair to sliiiiiide gently across it, unlike the cotton pillowcase that causes friction and disrupts the hair cuticle.

You can go to www.atouchofsatin.com and choose from a whole slew of solid colors to match any decor you may have in the boudoir, and they have a few prints as well!  They offer travel accessories, eye pillows and all sorts of great ideas!!

Makeup Junkie and the pillow wrinkles! UGH!

So, I've been totally perplexed as I awake every morning only to find a face full of ugly, unwanted and downright horrible deep seated lines in my face?  What the heck, I have to go thru my morning and sometimes into the mid morning hours with these huge God awful lines in my face.....not too embarrassing!  This has been happening more and more over the last, lets say 8 months or so? I thought it was a quick fix and I would only need to get  a better fitting pillow case so as not to have too many loose wrinkles in the material, because it was ALL the pillow cases fault.....then I read an article about training yourself to sleep on your back and not your side or stomach, as to avoid pillow creases and deepening your natural lines and wrinkles!!!!  Seriously....this is for real???  Of all the things after 40 that I have to worry with, now I have to deal with my PILLOW CASE and the reality that these things, these lines may become permanently etched in the surface of my skin????  Unfortunately, as we age and get older (ouch!) our skin loses its elasticity, so it is harder for it to bounce back as it did when we were younger...AND, by the way, I have now developed 3 NEW lines of wrinkles just to the left of my mouth that mimic my cheeks being all squished up....and they aren't disappearing......for the love of Pete!  (Who is Pete anyway?)

Here are some tips on how to avoid this dreaded new pillow disease!
~Sleep on your back, or change your sleeping position frequently
~Avoid hard cotton pillows AND pillowcases
~Use satin pillow cases(A Touch of Satin) ..ordered mine today!
Sleep wrinkles are much easier to prevent then they are to repair!
~Treat or correct those lines that seem to be permanent with skin care products that contain peptides, which promote the formation of collagen.  Collagen will form under the wrinkles and push up the skin from below!

Contouring and Highlighting your purdy face!

SCULPTING YOUR FACE
Many women with a full face, crooked nose, double chin (ouch!), would of course adore the opportunity to make all these things magically disappear!!  We of course are not magicians by trade, but we can effectively use sculpting methods to bring forth  the illusion of a slimmer face, straighter nose and a not so noticeable double chin!! Below I will give you tips on how to apply and what to use, no matter which products you choose to use, you should follow the same basic sculpting method.  You will need to choose three shades of foundation or powder in three different depth levels....
The picture/diagram above gives you a guideline on how to apply Highlight and Contour Colors.
CONTOUR
Think of contouring this way......if we want our bodies to appear slimmer, what do we do?  We wear dark colors, usually black.  So, if you want to slenderize parts of your facial structure, you need to darken those areas ever so slightly......your temples, hairline, sides of the nose, under the cheekbone and chin line. ( I actually use either eyeshadow or blush colors for my highlighting techniques)
HIGHLIGHTING
If dark slenderizes, then we need to use a lighter shade to bring forth; that which you highlight will be what the eye will focus on first......your forehead, top of the cheekbones, the tip of your chin, cupids bow and the bridge of your nose.

~First apply your foundation color all over the face
~Then apply your second highlight product to the high points listed above
~Now contour with the darkest shade in the outer points listed above

If you have ivory or beige skin, you will probably want to contour more than highlight and if you have bronze or ebony skin, you will need to highlight your skin more than contour!  Be sure to have a soft hand and blend, blend, blend as to not leave noticeable color differences on the skin.

REMEMBER: when you see a picture in a magazine, or an edited photo of someone that is just flawless........10 times out of 10......it's all an illusion done with make-up, lighting and GREAT EDITING SOFTWARE!!!!  Do not let your heart be troubled thinking that you will never match up to someone shown in that manner, it's not the true them.  No one is THAT perfect ladies, beautiful, without a doubt yes.......perfect.......NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!!

Makeup Junkie's been thinking....Oh Lord help us all

O.k., so I've been thinking...........I want my own studio, boutique, makeup bar extravaganza....whatever you call on your side of the tracks!!!!!  I want a swanky, classy, relaxed, a bit romancy kinda "spot" to enable clients to come and allow me to do make-overs, makeup lessons, buy products, shoot the breeze, listen to Harry Connick Jr. and Sinatra, drink some java and just be girls.....cause that's what we do!!!

I don't know if it will ever come to pass, but I can't loose that vision...it just keeps coming!  And if WE could, my bff and I....who is one cute little photographer, want to open a boudoir type photography studio to wear women would come in, I treat them to full on make-up, we have a hairstylist ready and  different rooms are set up for different scenes/moods and backgrounds, she would shoot the pictures and magic would be made!!!  Nothing tasteless, trashy or racy mind you, just good, clean, classy, sexy pictures, because I truly believe that EVERY women, no matter their shape or size should experience that feeling of seeing themselves in that light, to be made to feel special and beautiful.......its an amazing thing!

So who know's what my future may bring, I will keep dreaming big and wait to see what the Lord has in store for muah......in the meen(?) time, I will keep on keeping on!!!

TESTING A NEW PRODUCT!! RODAN AND FIELDS SKIN CARE LINE!

We are all looking for the next best thing in makeup and skincare right?  Well, I was contacted by a friend of a friend to try the Rodan + Fields Dermatologists line. Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields, creators of the Proactiv line are now the anti-aging company to watch!

This company offers:
REVERSE= For brown spots, dullness and sun damage
UNBLEMISH= for acne and post acne marks
ANTI-AGE= for wrinkles, pores and loss of firmness
SOOTHE= for sensitive, irritated skin and facial redness

I purchased the Reverse Regimen due to the fact that I have blotchy skin tone, some sun damage and a brown spot that laughs hysterically at me every time I look in the mirror!!  This regimen proclaims to exfoliate, lighten, brighten and protect the skin for a more even tone and texture, and it was recognized by Allure Magazine's "A List" (one of my fav's)!

Before #1
Before #2
Today I start my new skincare venture with a hopeful heart and empty wallet.  The price for this 4 step wonder treatment was $160.00(Merry Christmas to me!) and it does have a 60 day money back guarantee which they state that their return rate is less than .3%.  I'm very excited to try these products and hopefully I can report back to you with AMAZING, AMAZING results in the near future!!!!  If you are interested in trying their products, let me know and I will put you in contact with the adorable women who introduced me!!!

Be sure to check out their website, they offer so many more products for us lovely ladies who are in need of a little umph and help in our ever so changing skin!!!

Tips for Fall/Winter makeup and skin care!

As the beautiful snow covered tree landscape approaches, so does the harshness that it reaps on our skin, and to boot, central heating adds to it by drying it out!  But, try some of these handy tips to try and combat the woes of the winter skin!!!

~Exfoliate every other day to keep those flaky areas at bay....I just rhymed!  he he
~Switch to a more intense moisturizer, your skin needs extra protection!
~Keep a can of "Evian's Facial Spray" on hand for those moments your face is feeling parched, find it at Sephora!
~Eye's will water in the cold and windy weather, be sure to use eyeliner and mascara that are either water proof or less likely to run.
~Your skin will get paler in the winter months, be sure to adjust your foundation and concealer.
~You may want to try a heavier coverage foundation, on really good and moisturized skin, a cream foundation will not cake or look too thick.....be sure to apply sparingly and blend, blend, blend with your fingers or a slightly damp makeup sponge.
~Try a cream blush if your skin is overly dry, it will be more moisturizing than powder blushes.
~Avoid pink shades on the eyes, this color will bring out the redness in the eyes and skin.
~Look for lip glosses with Vitamin E to protect the lips.

John 15:11  These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full!

HAVE A JOYFULL DAY....TILL NEXT TIME!

GREAT BEAUTY TIPS from Makeup Junkie!!!

Just throwing some little tid-bits out there, some may be helpful, some you may already know!!
~Dab a creamy highlighter underneath the arch of the brow to lift the brow and make the eyes look wider.  Add a touch above the cupid's bow to make your lips appear fuller!!
~Go for a yellow based concealer, as it will help to camouflage red or purple tones in those annoying blemishes!
~For us older more "mature" beauties, sometimes brown mascara's and eyeliner's are more flattering than the harsh look of BLACK, and gel and liquid liners may be too harsh., but you can dampen your brush and use your eyeshadow as a liner, this will flow a little easier over fine lines!
~Use a flesh toned eyeliner on the inner rim of your eyes to make them appear wider and to help neutralize any redness.  Pale eyeliner inside the eye creates a more open-eye effect, while dark eyeliner inside the ye creates a more elongated focus to the width of the eye!
~I you have thin or very sparse eyelashes, use an eyeliner to full in any gaps between the lashes and lightly dust them with powder in between coats of mascara to add volume!
~If you suffer from oily skin, invest in a little packet of "Blotting Clothes", they are easy to carry in your purse and are better for quick fixes than powder!
~Before applying your face regime, cleanse your face and finish with a quick splash of cold water, this will close the pores and make them less noticeable!
~Be sure to cleanse your face really well before applying your heavier night creams.  You must make sure that there are no oil's or dirt in your pores, if there is and you apply the night creams you could run the chance that your pores will get blocked which will cause blemishes!
~For really tough waterproof eyeliner or mascara, use a Q-tip dipped in an oil based cleanser to remove, I use good ole Olive oil!
~Try using a night cream that stimulates cell regeneration. Skin repairs itself at night and the temperature of the skin increases during sleep, aiding in the ability to absorb the ingredients!

So there you have it, hope these were help full!!!

Where's your confidence?

If you pay attention to any "girlie" conversations.....and I do, you will hear that the re-acurring theme when it comes to beauty is how much we hate certain "things" about ourselves or our looks.  So let's try something different!!!
I want to know  where your confidence lies, what "part" of you do you most admire, feel good about or just plain loooooove!  Do you have amazing legs, a great booty, perky boobies ( the real ones!), an incredible smile, bright beautiful eyes and a great nose?????  I'm so guilty of the same conversation as you all have had I'm sure, dragging myself thru the muddy mud hole of what I despise on my body, and I point out to anyone who will listen, ALL of my not so perfect  parts and dimples and short comings......WHY, I don't know really????  Is it to assure others that I don't think too highly of myself, or to make sure EVERYONE knows that  I'm so not perfect.....anywhere!
Well, I want to change my stinking thinking!!!!  I want you to join me in commenting and telling the world what is your BEST ASSET....and if it's your ass-et.....then tell it!!!!!
Feel good about something today, we are beautiful and we want the world to know it!!!!!

I ADORE this picture!!!  You go girl!
"For women...bras, panties, bathing suits, and other stereotypical  gear are visual reminders of a commercial, idealized feminine image that our real and diverse female bodies can't possibly fit.  Without these visual references, each individual women's body demands to be accepted on its own terms, stop being compared and start being UNIQUE!!!!"
WOO-HOO!!!!

Doors are opening and makeup junkie is thrilled!

So as I posted earlier, there has been a busy little whirlwind swirling around me lately and I am now slowing down to normalcy, well as normal as I can be!

God is opening doors for the makeup junkie in ways I truly never dreamed He would.  Back in September I pulled my big girl panties up and went to a casting call for a network called Jane.TV, it was a great experience and I had no actual expectations of being chosen for the role of makeup artist in a make over show, but wanted to prove that I could muster the confidence to present my self to my peers and not fall flat on my face.
I received an email from their marketing department stating that I was not chosen for this particular venture but that they were wanting to speak with me further on another opportunity they had with the network.  I did not get my hopes up because I thought they were just being kind and didn't want to hurt my over 40 feelings, BUT I received a call last night from the CEO of Jane.TV who is a doll baby and a mighty women of God!  How awesome is that!
She explained her plans that she had and how she wanted to involve myself and one of my closest friends to be the center of this venture, all revolving around helping women!!  Can you say WOO-HOO!!!!!
I love doing the makeup thing, but to think that me, a normal mom, housewife blogging fool could make a difference in another women's life.......is amazing to me......truly, it is.  I'm just thrilled for any opportunity to be able to bring my life's experiences to help another, and be able to inspire them both inside and out....their heart, and their face! He He!  I have prayed several times that God use me to help others and that He always get the glory, but help me to have the wisdom and knowledge to help others correctly as well.

Go and check out Jane.TV, like them on facebook as well and get to know this most amazing network!!!!!

Makeup Junkie's whirlwind....pt. 1

I'm surprised I even remember how to work this thing!  It seems like I have been dormant for decades on writing on my Makeup Junkie blog, so much has been going on in the last month and I am just now being able to stop and take a seat and write, and it's good for the soul ya know.  It all started back in 1969, October 11th to be exact.....oh no wait, WRONG story!

Seriously though, my whirlwind began unexpectedly on Thursday September 29th when my husband called and told me the horrible, heart wrenching message that the Pastor that introduced me to the Lord when I was a young 17 year old goofy girl had been found unresponsive by his wife at their home.  A young 69 year old mountain of a man, Cowboy extraordinaire, God fearing and truth preaching man was now in the hands of our most awesome and loving God.  As I drove to the emergency room not knowing what to expect, you start to do the remembering game, thinking of all the funny, quirky, forever etched in your brain moments that you have shared with this person and how you could not even begin to imagine how he could no longer be here. No longer preach on that incredible pulpit, no longer sit a horse like no one else, no longer drive his Mercedes thru the fields chasing cattle or horses, no longer smile that incredible smile, no longer tell the most amazing, funny stories........no longer be present in the life of thousands!  As we stood waiting in the hallway outside of his E.R. room, hearing the sounds of doctors, machines, tears and  prayers....life became very, very real.  They made the decision to move him to a hospital where his doctors where stationed and ready, my husband and I accompanied **"our pastor"** and  the transport team out to an awaiting ambulance and as we walked down those hallways hearing nothing but the sound of the bag which was being pressed as to give air and breath to this most precious man of God, my heart actually hurt......
The next day I drove to the hospital and entered the I.C.U unit, sat and talked with family and tried to keep the mood as light as you can during times like these.  He was scheduled to have extensive tests ran to test brain activity and I had to get back home to attend my son's Friday night football game, and you hate to leave, you want to stay and comfort your friends and family, but I couldn't, I would come back the next day.
At 7:50 p.m. I got word that the test showed no brain activity and that the family was saying their goodbyes and machines were being removed.....Oh My God.  I instantly felt the tears and the shortness of breath and the panic of not knowing what to do, what do I do, my husband is going to completely loose it.........but we have to get to the hospital!  I met my husband in the parking lot and relayed the awful news.......and held him as he sobbed.  My wonderful friend took care of my kids getting home and we drove to the hospital in utter disbelief that we were actually experiencing such a thing, with such a man as this....really?  We arrived at the I.C.U unit and a waiting room filled with fellow family members and  long time friends.  We were brought back through big doors, down the hallway and finally to his room.......this was it.....this was going to be a moment in my life that I would rather not ever have to experience.
To be blessed to have the privilege to experience such an incredible, Godly, strong, funny, hero, soul winning, Bible preaching, bluegrass playing, horse loving, extraordinary man of all men taking his final breaths on this earth, and witnessing  at the very moment God took him to receive what he had been striving and working for all of his life......their really and truly are no words to describe what that was like.......privilege is the one word that continually pops into my mind......just a once in a lifetime privilege.   He is where he has longed to be, at the feet of Jesus.
As his most amazing wife and adult children grieve and mourn their incredible loss, their strength inspires me, their love for others during their heart break amazes me beyond belief.....his wife is quite possibly the strongest women I have ever met, her strength is undeniably from our most gracious and loving God, for without Him she would surely break.

**Side Note** Our Pastor, when you get saved and give your heart to the Lord, the man or women who lead you to Him is usually etched into your life, well, for life and even though at the time of his death we were not sitting in his church under his pastoring.......he will FOREVER be "OUR PASTOR"........for the things you taught myself and my husband, for the endless stories, for opening your home to us, for loving our family and inparting bible truths.........THANK YOU!!!!!!  You will be missed beyond words.

Part 2 in a few days...... :)

Makeup Junkie is flat .........wore..........OUT!!!

Have I had a weekend to remember........just ask my feet!!!! O.k., so I was invited to join the team of "Your Image Matters" with Teresa Napier, and "Loralei's Boutique" with Laurie Smalley to take part of the first annual Dayton Women's Fair.   I of course jumped at the opportunity to be their makeup artist for the runway shows that they so wonderfully orchestrated on "The Little Black Dress". We arrived Friday evening to do last minute set-up and dry runs on the runway shows and headed back home. Saturday started the kick off of the women's fair and we were off, meeting, greeting, talking, laughing, eating the BEST CUPCAKES EVER KNOWN TO MAN, and applying makeup to the most wonderful ladies. That was great, fine, wonderful, fun and worth very minute........until my feet literally fell off!!!! Can I just say.......it's been a looooong time since I have spent an extended amount of time in 3" heels, standing on concrete for 9 hours!!!! When I got home Saturday night, I think I literally crawled to my ever so wonderful bathtub and just sat and soaked, and remembered that I am 3 weeks from turning 42 and totally feel it!!! We finished out the women's fair on Sunday with much enthusiasm, a GREAT PAIR OF FLATSand a lot of "slap happy" moments that will forever be remembered......do any of you remember the Olivia Newton John movie, Xanadu?? Sorry, that was a slap happy moment we shared during our "debriefing" moments!!! I made some great contacts and met some ladies whom I hope will be forever friends! Oh did I mention that my so called "friend" made me take part in the Sunday runway show?????? Oh, paybacks will be such sweet justice!!!

So onto today! I received a facebook message about a casting call for make-up artist'  needed for a new network for women called jane.tv (Makeover Angels) which took place this afternoon in Columbus! So I tossed around the idea of........oh Lord, should I, no.... I couldn't, could I........would I DARE try it????? Well heck yeah I did!!!! I stepped out of my over 40 most protective, housewife taxi to the kids, mom mode and did my thang.....for whatever THAT"S worth!  Do I even have a THANG??? Hmmm, I will have to get back with you on that one.   I arrived just a tad early, received a number and a sheet of paper to fill out, and waited with bated breath for my #1 to be called.  I went to a side room and entered, only to see a panel of very important people seated behind a table and starring directly at ME with a camera rolling.....oh Jesus help ME!  They were, for the record, VERY COOL INDIVIDUALS, they asked me questions about my experience, looked at my portfolio and resume and then we kicked back and laughed and talked about old times and how momma was........o.k. maybe not that last part, but it was pretty short and sweet and very nerve racking for this over 40 makeup junkie!!!!!  When the interview was over, I shook hands, smiled and thanked them for such a wonderful, dream opportunity and walked out and had my picture taken with my cute little #1.
I went to this incredible outta the box moment with no expectations of actually being hired for the makeup artist position, but to prove to myself that I could walk into a room of my piers and present myself with confidence and style and not run, in fear of rejection.  I accomplished something today, and that is that "I can do ALL things thru Christ, who strengthens me"!  Love you Lord!

Makeup Junkies answer for: Are you "Warm" or "Cool" ?

If you have ever heard makeup counters girls at the department stores speak of Warm or Cool colors and had not one single clue of what they were talking about......I'm here to help!!!

Alot of ladies do not realize that their hair color, eye color, skin color and undertones will establish what color category they will call their own!

So we will start with the Beautiful WARM COLORING:
~Those who fall under this category will generally have golden blonde, strawberry blonde, red, orange-red, auburn, golden brown, chestnut brown and chocolate brown colored hair.
~They will also generally have brown eyes with flecks of gold, hazel, green or blue eyes with gold or brown flecks.
~Flip your wrist over and take a look at the color of your veins, warm colored people will have green veins and a golden undertone.

Next we have the Cool Coloring:
~Those of you who fall under this category will generally have platinum blonde, ash blonde, "dirty" blonde, ash brown, light brown, medium brown and dark brown hair colors that will not reflect any auburn, red or gold colors in the sunlight.
~They will also generally have "black" brown eyes that have little to no silvery flecks, dark brown eyes that have silver flecks, green eyes that have silver flecks and blue eyes that have silver flecks.
~Cool colored people will have blue colored veins and have rosy/pink undertones.

So now that you know which side of the color coin you fall, it will make purchasing makeup colors a little simpler!!

9/11 Heart Break Revisited

As this somber day approached, I like other Americans reflected on the memories of that fateful day 10 short years ago.  But as I watched a simultaneous broadcast that was shown on several stations this morning, uninterrupted.......the feeling of sheer despair and peril filled my heart again.  The replaying of actual video footage, the radio contact between fire and police, some on the ground, some in the towers......just breaks my heart.  Seeing those absolutely helpless people in the towers hanging out of the windows, in such panic of not knowing what to do, get out and head down huge amount of stairs, not knowing if the flames and smoke were awaiting you outside the door, stay where they were and lay low to the floor, bust out their office windows to get air or God help them ......jump to their death.  How many of them that made the choice to take a leap in which they knew without a shadow of a doubt would be their demise, were jumping out of sheer panic or were the flames so hot that it was either stay and burn to death or jump......I just can not muster enough to even begin to imagine making that God awful choice.
Seeing those beyond human comprehension, brave and wonderful police, firefighters and EMS personal head toward the immanent danger that they could never know would end as it did.  What kind of person puts aside all fear (and you know it was racing) and all knowledge of what could happen and head in to help strangers?  An incredibly selfless, courageous, brave and unimaginable human being......there was a clip of footage from a program I watched last week that showed the aftermath of the collapse and their were emergency personal and volunteers standing in and on the rubble and all you heard was this deafening "chirping" sounds coming from everywhere........these were the sounds of the emergency distress locaters that all the brave fireman are equipped with and wear on their person.......can you EVEN IMAGINE being a firefighter that survived and you were there to help and you heard those sounds?
The memories that must flood their dreams more often than not, even after 10 years must be heartbreaking.  The guilt of the air traffic controllers who sent out the warning...."Cockpit Intrusion" to the pilots of those fateful flights, but to find out he was too late.....if he had sent the warning just a minute earlier?  Heartbreaking!  The passengers on those flights, knowing that they were doomed for their death, calling their loved ones and telling them how much they loved them and how much they meant to them, I just pray that they had a peace in God at those moments.....the only word that keeps coming to me is peril.

So as I watched these programs, I cried, I held my hand over my mouth and on my head a lot of the time, I was also reminded of the incredible human capacity to get up out of unimaginable horror, wipe themselves off, and keep going.  The people that helped, the people that saved lives, the people that prayed to God for strength of others, the people who did not give up but they got up and GOT GOING!
GOD BLESS THEM ALL!!!!

Makeup Junkies 6 Most Flattering Fall Makeup Colors!

This fall's prettiest makeup shades are intense and can be quite scary, but here are some little tips to pulling it off no matter your complexion.

1. {VIOLET EYELINER}
This color will make brown eyes look richer, greens greener, and blues more intense.  Line your upper and lower rims to create a burst of color around the eyes and if you want a smoky effect then smudge with a cotton swab.
TRY:  NYX Slide on Pencil in Purple Blaze  or  Nars Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Bourbon Street.

2. {NAVY AND GOLD EYE SHADOWS}
Navy looks incredibly gorgeous on brown eyes, and paired with a little gold color beneath the lower lashes.....LOOK OUT!
TRY:  Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue eyeshadow in Indigo  and  Make up Forever Aqua Eyes in Cream #11.

3.  {MAGENTA LIPSTICK}
This unique color surprisingly works on all skin tones!  Use a lip brush when applying to insure your edges are defined, and be sure to keep the rest of your makeup soft and simple.....
TRY:  Avon Ultra Color Rich Moisture Seduction in Plum Gorgeous  or  L'oreal Paris colour Riche Lipcolour in Sea Fleur.

4.  {BLACKENED GREEN EYE SHADOW}
Try a metallic green with a touch of black to put a sexy gorgeous spin on that smokey eye!  It pairs well for an evening look with pale or burgundy lips!
TRY:  Lancome Color Design Palette in Jade Forever

5.  {RUSSET RED BLUSH}
This beautiful red hue does enhance skin redness, so be sure to conceal any blemishes or spots.  To get a "flushed" sparingly dust a small amount onto the apples of the cheeks with a circular motion and continue to sweep it along your cheekbones.....USE A LIGHT HAND!
TRY:  M.A.C. Mineralize Blush in Love Thing

6.  {BABY PINK GLOSS}
I must say, this is one of my favorite things to wear....EVER!  Baby pink gives your lips an ultra feminine tint and I love it, if it's too foo-foo you should pair it with a dark ultra sexy smokey eye!!!
TRY:  Laura Mercier Lip glaze in Bare Pink  or  NYX Sheer Gloss in Dandy

And be sure to check out my Faebook Page and hit that good "like" button!  Also my new  WEBSITE is available to take a gander at......so go....gander!!!

Makeup Junkies baby boy is 16, and driving........WHAAAAAA!

So moms out there who have their first born, their only son....16 and driving.....is my world coming apart?????  OMG what is wrong with me!!!!  Tears and tears.....and MORE tears....like my cute little Asian nail girl told me.....YOU BIG BABY!  And I am, I don't deny it, but my goodness, one day you are holding them on your lap while  projectile vomit comes spewing  and you think....oh my sweet Lord, I can't wait until this phase is over.....then the next phase of terrible two's hit and you are pulling your hair out chasing them to the moon and back, then their first day of kindergarten comes and you think their on their way down the aisle.  Lord, if I could have just ONE DAY of those times back, I would give it all.
Pulling into his spot at school

Today my son, my precious boy got his license, he's officially behind the wheel of a big ole jacked up truck, new toolbox and all.  Does he know the endless worry that lies ahead, does he know that every time I hear the sound of sirens going off out here in the country.....my heart will stop, does he know the hours of sleep his dad and I will lose, does he know that our grip on him is slightly loosening and we have to put our full faith and trust in God that He will  protect him each and every day and bring him home safely?  How do you trust that this 16 year old all country boy, won't do something completely stupid to be funny and impress the "boys"?  All that rings in my ear is him saying to his buddy in the passenger seat...."Hold my Gatorade....I gotta try this!" This is a whole new realm of places and feelings and worries that I knew one day would come, but now they are here, and  I'm officially freaking out!!!  Maybe I'm a control freak and didn't even realize it.........nah, that CANT be it!!

Makeup Junkies skinny on eyeliner!

Hello ladies, ......oh Lord, that sounds like a really back pick-up line!  Anyway, let's get the low down, the skinny, the in's and the outs of different eye liner formulas shall we?

First is the ever so popular "Pencil", if you use a good creamy type pencil eye liner, they will easily glide across your skin without skipping or dragging your ever so delicate skin.  I use MAC's Kohl pencil is "Smolder"...this is not a waterproof product, so keep that in mind! *Warm your pencil by drawing them across the back of your hand before application*

The ever so intimidating "Liquid Liner" takes a lot of practice to master, but is worth it when you do.  It's staying power is great and can give you a very precise, very clean line....great for the winged eye look!  Again, I use either NYX Studio Liquid Liner, or MAC's Penultimate Liquid Liner, it's like a felt tip pen!

The great "Creams and Gel Liners" are some of my favorites.  If applied with the right brush, can give you the same effect as a liquid liner, but again, steady hand and a lot of practice will master this craft.  You can use a flat square brush, or a pointed tip brush, whichever you feel the most comfortable using.  I adore MAC's Fluidline in Blacktracks and brush #209!

And just wanted to throw in this little jewel...

THE 10 COMMANDMENTS OF ANTI-AGING!!!!

~Wear Sunscreen - and not just at the beach!
~ Quit Smoking - cigarettes destroy collagen and elastin and decreases levels of estrogen, which is necessary to keep skin firm!
~ Use Retinoid - it minimizes the appearance of existing age spots and fine lines and prevents new ones from forming!
~ Stay Hydrated - H2O girls, the more hydrated your skin, the better those wrinkles will look!
~ Get Enough Sleep
~ Maintain a Healthy Weight - the more your weight fluctuates, the harder it is to snap back into shape!
~ Eat Right and Eat Healthy
~ Get That Body MOVING - exercise increases blood flow to the skin and promotes a glowing healthy complexion!
~ Try and RELAX - stress causes cells to age faster!  I doomed!
~ Don't pick - our skin takes longer to repair itself the older we get, so don't pick at those blemishes!

Makeup Junkie/Rainee Rae bites the bullett!!!

O.k., so a quick rundown!  I was supposed to do a very cool shoot yesterday for a young lady wanting to have her pictures printed in "Inked" Magazine, and two photo shoots today.  Well due to a death in our family, and a death in the lives of the young lady and her husband, we had to cancel........BUMMER, but understandable.  So today I started at 10:00 a.m. on the most beautiful girl, natural wavy LONG blonde hair, legs up to....well THERE, and the bluest eyes around......GEEZ, she made me feel so OLD and quite outta shape and a whole lot weathered!!!!  BUT, she was a jewel to work with, we did 3 different looks starting very natural and ending in vixen......SO FUN!!!  My second young lady scheduled for our 2nd shoot had to cancel last minute......BUMMER #2!  BUT, it worked out well because I figured we could spend more time with blondie and it paid off, the wonderful photographer from "Inspired by Christy" did such an amazing job, we were in the weeds, corn fields, gazebo's, grass, and the pictures are going to be amazing!

In saying all of that, my first, all by myself, no help shoot went really well....I still have a lot to learn, and with time I will no longer have that horrible pain in the pit of my stomach that says....."Oh sweet Lord, what the HECK are you doing fool, you're too old to be hip, and too old to be good at make-up.........go back to bed"!!!!

I DID IT!!!!!!
