Makeup Junkies ~ Go too's in your 40's!!

As we age, our bodies, minds, spirits, boobs and makeup evolve....its inevitable!!!  What doesn't head south........disappears, example being your jawline, your nice tight eye lid's or your once beautiful pouty voluptuous smackers!!!  But have no fear beauties, I'm going to give you some tips on age appropriate makeup and essentials!!
Well, beings that I am in this wonderfully wisdom imparting decade, I can attest to the fact that you are probably in the midst of crow's feet, newbie signs of sun damage, loss of firmness(in area's other than the face!)and your skin just doesn't look as radiant.........good Lord, I need a bridge to jump off of!!

Here are some tips to help in these areas:
1) Use a PRIMER!  This will help fill in those fine lines and the appearance of large pores.
2) CONCEALER! Not everyone needs it, but if you do, try to choose one that is somewhat emollient, due to the fact that our skin tends to become drier because we lose estrogen...nice.
3) BROWS!  They tend to start becoming a little more sparse, so you may want to start "filling in" those etched out areas.  Benefit Cosmetics offers a handy little diddy "Brow Zing"
4)SHEER eyeshadow!  Lighter colored shadows(creams, pale pinks and camels)will aid in the "brightening"of your eyes, and always go for either Matte or a formula with very subtle shimmer.
5) LASHES/LINER!  Our lashes are starting to thin(GREAT!)so to make them look fuller and thicker, opt to have your eye liner in the same shade as your mascara, then line your upper eyelids thisclose to your lashes.  The goal is to make lashes look extra thick at the roots!
6)CHEEKS!  Opt for some color!  My go to's are peaches and pinks, they seem to perk up dull skin, and if applied to the top of the cheek bone it will give a lifting effect!!  Woo-Hoo
7)LIPS!  As IF it isn't bad enough, we are losing pigment in our hair, skin and lips!  So brighten up those pretty puckers with some vivid lip color, make it a creamy sheer formula like a tinted lip balm with an extra dose of pigment!!

So there you have it ladies, my guide to this 40 extravaganza we call "You've GOT to be kidding me!!!"

And as aways, I HAVE to tell you to check out the fabuloso skin care line that I PROUDLY represent, use and distribute..
RODAN + FIELDS!!!  I am OVER THE MOON for the Anti-Age regimen, it has completely changed the entire texture of my skin, my pores are almost invisible now and the few fine lines are becoming distant memories......can I get an AMEN!!!!!!
It is NEVER too late or too early to take care of your skin, be kind to it and it will in return be glorious to you!!!

My eyes have seen destruction....Tornados 2012

As I went to bed Friday evening after watching the horrific storms that passed thru Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, and the utter destruction that these monsters left in their paths....my heart was so very heavy for all the families that were involved.  So, as soon as my eyes opened up Saturday morning, I was on the phone to my most gracious and giving husband.....I said, "Honey, I have an idea that has been brewing all night", and as I told him what the Lord laid on my heart to do, he did not hesitate at all, he said go do what you have to do, get what ya gotta get and pick me up on your way!

I woke my two children up and got the plan in motion, we took one of our company trucks and headed to Sam's to pick up all the supplies we could get to fit in the bed.  It was interesting hearing my kids' input on what they thought people would need who had lost everything, my most precious 14 year old daughter of course went straight for the biggest box of dog treats that I have EVER laid eyes on.....God love her, she loves her animals! My 16.5 year son wanted to buy cases of Monster drinks............imagine THAT! (Ha, Ha) But we settled on the essentials(and the dog treats)that could be easily passed out in individual wrappers as to keep it sanitary and preservable.

In the mean time my husband hooked his brother and family to join up with us and my brother-in-law's company, McGraw Kokosing DONATED two skids of bottled water for us to take.....how AWESOME was that!!! THANK YOU JESUS!

So off we went, heading to Piner, Kentucky with the prayer that God would use us to help these families.  We exited the highway and started heading out into the outskirts of  town and came into this small 4 way stop with the sign Piner......the intersection was blocked by an ambulance and people were being turned away but we were allowed thru because we were loaded with supplies to deliver.  We passed the Piner Baptist Church where the Red Cross was set up but we went on by hoping to be able to see first hand the tornado damage. We drove on up the road and came to the place we were looking for......nothing but huge utility trucks everywhere, people walking, no traffic, debris in every line of vision, houses gone, houses without sides, houses without roofs, 5th wheel trailers turned upside down, tree's EVERYWHERE...uprooted and split like kindling.......oh Jesus, these poor families!!!

Our hearts just ached for these poor families, losing so much and having to deal with all of the "stuff" that comes now.....what do they do????  Of course all of the questions come to mind, where did they go last night, what if they didn't have any family close, or if they did, what it those families lost their homes as well......just on and on my mind went.  But then you see people, neighbors, complete strangers helping....with smiles on their faces!!!

We spoke with some folks as we were walking thru, asking if they needed any food, water or clothing and not one person needed a thing, they had what they needed at that moment and were so gracious and kind....  So we went back to our trucks and headed to the Baptist church, the hub of the Red Cross to unload all of the supplies and skids of water, and let me tell you how joyful and kind these people were as well, just so thankful and helpful.  And the rooms inside where stalked full of supplies that had already been donated in such a short amount of time....it really was something.

Some awesome volunteers
Hats off to the many volunteers in Piner, Kentucky and to all of those who gave and donated.  The spirit of fellowship, caring and giving was not lost in this disaster.  This tiny town will forever be changed in landscape but most importantly, in their hearts because the spirit of humanity still exists!!
God's grace is sufficient and He is the Prince of Peace, in every situation......
Please continue to pray for all the families who have lost their homes or worst yet, a loved one.  If you can donate to your local Red Cross or nearby church that may be collecting for these efforts, please try and do so........you will be blessed!

The skinny on some shadows!!

So, are you always wondering, thinking, pondering even, on the differences in some eye shadow finishes??  Well beauties, the wait is over, look with me if you will at some of the differences!!!

EYESHADOW PRIMERS
Primers contain silicon's and polymers that help eye shadows stay in place.  They are great if your eye shadows have a tendency to crease and smudge or if you have very oily lids.

CREAM-TO-POWDER SHADOWS
Cream-to-powder shadows start out as an easy-to-blend cream and set as a lighter powder, making them great for sheer application.  Less of a chance that they will crease than a cream shadow and are great for people who have oily lids but still want the richer color of a cream shadow.

GEL SHADOWS
Gel shadows are the newest in the makeup tecky world!  They can be used a a liner or eyeshadow, come in more intense colors, and are great for a really dramatic look! These are a really good choice if you have a lot of unsightly veins on the lid that you want covered.  Be sure to work fast with gels because once they set......their SET!

PRESSED SHADOWS
Pressed shadows are the best for layering your colors, and come in some absolutely beautiful and amazing colors and textures!!  Avoid chalky textures because these will produce uneven blending and can emphasize fine lines....YUCK!

CREAM SHADOWS
Cream shadows are found in several types of packaging these days, from tubes, to wands and pots.  All produce great creamy looks and can look either sheer or opaque.  The hard part or challenge with these is that they tend to smear and "melt", often resulting in those horrible, horrible creases on your eyelids!!  If you choose a cream, try to use the sheerer colors to help in minimizing the look of creasing and avoid creams with too much shimmer, which will highlight those fine lines that we all love and adore so very much!!  :(

PURE PIGMENT
I LOOOOOVE these!!!  Pure pigments  come in loose shadow form and and produce very intense color.  A color tends to be more vibrant in this form, they contain very few ingredients other than pigments and are  best for those awesome dramatic looks!!  To use, you need to wet your brush with water first for this will produce the most intense of color!!!
